DevOps engineer requirements, with the quote you would need
These postings list clouds, CI, and clusters. Evidence is an environment, a pipeline, or an incident. A deploy button you clicked in a tutorial is a project, not production ownership.
Examples on this page are fictional composites, not customers and not testimonials.
Often required
The environment
A named cloud, a data center, or on-prem, as written.
A pipeline or a deploy you maintained
The tool and what it shipped.
Infrastructure as code, only if you wrote it
Terraform or a script. Clicking a console is a different sentence.
Observability you used
Logs, metrics, or an alert you tuned.
An incident or a reliability task
If you have one. Do not borrow a postmortem.
Often preferred, and easy to fake
- Kubernetes you administered
- Cost work
- A security control you implemented
What a citation looks like
CI
“Kept the GitHub Actions pipeline that built the API image and blocked merges when tests failed.”
The pipeline and the policy are specific. Kubernetes is still unstated.
Kubernetes
“No sentence.”
A container on a VM is not a cluster. Mark it unsupported.
The gap people paper over
AWS, GCP, and Azure are not interchangeable. Do not translate one cloud into another because the posting prefers it.
Questions
I was a software engineer who also deployed.
Quote the deploy work. Do not retitle yourself SRE or DevOps unless that was the role.
Are certifications evidence?
They evidence the exam, if listed. They do not evidence production tenure.
