Project manager requirements, with the quote you would need
These roles are about delivery constraints: scope, sequence, and risk. A certificate is not a project. The quote should name the work, the people, and what slipped or shipped.
Examples on this page are fictional composites, not customers and not testimonials.
Often required
A project with a start and a finish
Dates on the resume are the evidence for duration. Do not invent a team size.
A dependency you coordinated
Vendors, another department, or a release train, if written.
A status habit
A weekly note, a RAID log, or a steering meeting. Name the one you kept.
A change you escalated
Scope cut, delay, or a budget flag. The absence of conflict is not proof of control.
The domain of the work
Construction, software, events, or clinical. Do not borrow a domain from the posting.
Often preferred, and easy to fake
- A named method you actually used
- A budget figure already in the resume
- A tool such as MS Project or Jira, if you ran it
What a citation looks like
Cross-team delivery
“Tracked the store-opening checklist across facilities, IT, and the shop manager, and moved the date by two weeks when permits slipped.”
Teams, artifact, and a real delay are cited. PMP is unsupported unless the resume says you hold it.
Budget ownership
“No sentence.”
Knowing the date is not owning the money. Leave budget unsupported.
The gap people paper over
Agile, Scrum, and PMP are the three words most often added without a certificate or a described ceremony. Do not add them.
Questions
Does a certification count by itself?
If it is on the resume, quote it for the certification requirement. It still does not prove you ran a project of the size they want.
Can dates imply years of experience?
A span from the earliest year to the latest can be read. Overlapping roles should not be added together.
